Which Team Will Lift the Coveted Trophy on Saturday?

The AFC Champions League 2011 season culminates at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium, Jeonju, Korea Republic. This Saturday, 05 November 2011, K-League title winners Jeonbuk Motors will take on the first ever ACL’s Qatari finalist – Al Sadd – in what promises to be an exhilarating conclusion to the tournament.

The two teams will likely come to the pitch with different mindsets though – Jeonbuk Motors having well warmed up for Saturday’s final with a 1-1 draw in the match against Chunnam Dragons.

Kim Dong-Chan’s second-half equaliser ensured that Jeonbuk finished four points clear at the top of the standings at the end of the regular K-League season. Kim Myung-Joong put Chunnam ahead after 17 minutes but the game ended with a tie. Topping the table means that Jeonbuk will progress directly to the final of the play-off series.

“I am happy that we achieved our objective and finished in first place,” said Jeonbuk coach Choi Kang-Hee. “We are chasing two targets in the K-League and the AFC Champions League. The atmosphere in the camp is good. The players are focussed and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

Al Sadd, however, warmed up for Saturday’s clash with an unfortunate 2-1 defeat to Al Jeish in the Qatar Stars League. Ali Afif gave Al Sadd the lead in the 12th minute but the hosts fought back to take the points thanks to Ismael Merdhalli’s double.

The two teams will aim for their greatest performance of the season, to confirm their supremacy over Asian clubs and offer their fans one of the most prestigious football titles.
