Round 4 of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, the 2014 Formula 1 UBS Chinese Grand Prix, takes place this week in Shanghai, the last opening round before the championship moves to Europe.
A decade on from its completion, the Shanghai International Circuit, which was conceived as the race circuit for the new millennium, continues to set the standard. The 5.451km track is anchored by a giant superstructure of a pit building, which is one of the most iconic of all the current Formula 1 venues.
Turn 1 is its standout characteristic – a very demanding 270 degree, right-handed corner combination calling for a lot of speed on entry but tightening up towards the end.
Good luck Marussia!
