It’s simple, be seen with a nice watch and be taken seriously. The watch you wear is a billboard that displays your character and attractiveness, let me explain why.

1. Your Hands

They say that eyes are a window to one’s soul. That may be true, but so are your hands. They’re extremely communicative when people talk. Hands may gesticulate elaborately or, or offer more subtle signs as to how someone is feeling. When communicating with others we almost always notice their hands.

Close to the hands are the wrists and on one of those wrists could be a watch. Ask any successful person and they’ll say that in a modern world, time has become the ultimate luxury.

We’d like to argue, though, that the timepiece itself takes that title. In an age when clocks are everywhere, notably on our phones and tablets, the wristwatch feels like an even more serious indulgence, a trend-transcending symbol of status and style that says as much about us as an engagement ring.

2. Your Uniqueness

More than those fancy Italian shoes or that big European car, your wristwatch says the most about who you are. Shoes are temporal, the value of a car drops as soon as you drive it off the lot, but a good watch is eternal. Not only is a timepiece the quintessential gift but it is the quintessential heirloom.

Toby Bateman, the buying director of a fashion retail site says first-time buyers should avoid anything too outré. “Keep it simple and timeless with classic design, something that would look good with a suit or your weekend clothes,” he says. “If you follow this advice then you are unlikely to see your watch go out of fashion.”

3. Your Attractiveness

People judge how smart, attractive, and successful you are based on visual indicators. These visual indicators are extremely powerful and more often than not, people come to conclusions about you before you even open your mouth.

So, the trick is to wear a nice watch. Have something that shines in the light and glistens with the right mixture of metal and color. Make it seem like you saved up for it, or it is a cherished treasure you restored after your father gave it to you.

The Formula

Being noticed + valuation of worth = the degree of seriousness with which you are taken. A watch will get you noticed and the watch you are wearing will indicate the value of your worth. The question then becomes “which watch?”
