QNET Malaysia has once again joined hands with the Selangor Hockey Association (SHA) in sponsoring the Selangor Hockey League 2016, together with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) – Malaysia’s electric utility company that’s largest in Southeast Asia. Aptly known as the TNB-QNET-Selangor Hockey League 2016, the tournament is set to run from mid-August to November.

This year’s league will see a record number of 47 teams competing in various categories, for honours in five divisions. The media launch of the event was held at our very own QI Tower early this month, and it was well attended by members of the press as well as representatives of the Selangor Hockey Association. Representing QNET was Regional Director of QNET Malaysia, Zaheer Merchant and Executive Director of QNET Malaysia, Krishna Kumar.

Currently ranked as 12th in the world, Malaysia has had a long-standing relationship with hockey, which can be traced back to its glory days in the 70’s and 80’s.

Expressing his delight at the partnership, Zaheer Merchant believes that this joint venture with TNB this year is a clear portrayal that all parties involved possess the same values, passion, determination and vision to see Malaysian hockey players achieve their full potential.
