QNET Azerbaijan Supports Children Of Umid Yeri With Sports Equipment
Following up from its previous activity of setting up a playground for the children at the Umid Yeri orphanage in Baku, QNET Azerbaijan treated the children of the centre with sports equipment including footballs, basketballs, and volleyballs. QNET staff and volunteers also helped install the baskets and badminton nets, as well as putting up special benches and water dispensers in the playground.
The Umid Yeri orphanage, whose name means ‘Place Of Hope’, is a home for homeless and abandoned street children from Baku and nearby towns of Azerbaijan. It is the first non-governmental organisation of its kind in Azerbaijan, and they aim to give the rescued children with a life full of love and joy. By partnering with them on various activities, QNET is able to do its bit to enrich the lives of these children.
The children were ecstatic to receive the sports equipment from QNET and wasted no time in trying out their new games. Their joy was apparent in their touching smiles. In presenting the orphanage with sports equipment, QNET has helped give the children a chance to be active and stay healthy, while also learning important life skills such as teamwork and sharing, echoing strongly with QNET’s concept of Absolute Living – a pledge to living a holistic and well-balanced life.
The event was also attended by journalists and reporters from ATV, a news channel in Azerbaijan, who also broadcasted the event on TV. The reporters were given a chance to experience RYTHM in action first hand. It is an experience that QNET staff, friends, family, volunteers, journalists and children will not soon forget. We look forward to even more activities with the children in the future.
