Hailing from Kazakhstan’s largest metropolis, Almaty, Platinum Star Associate V Partner Dauren Issabayev had a long and interesting journey before finally finding QNET in 2009. With a degree in Economics and an extensive background in audit and accounting, he worked in the bank and tax industry, served in the national army, worked as a broker and sold apartments and houses as a real estate agent until one of his college classmates introduced QNET to him. His classmate had doubts on whether he will be interested but tried it anyway, and for that, Associate V Partner Dauren Issabayev remains grateful until this day.
What problems did you face when you were just starting your direct selling business?
Many people did not believe that the business plan works. They always wanted to see results first, so I worked on that. I have made a decision to achieve higher ranks and earn more so I can show more. Armed with that decision and a lot of determination, I started to believe in myself. I focused and worked harder to achieve the Platinum Star rank and here I am now. Prospects now start to believe me even before I speak.
Describe your life before and after QNET?
Life with QNET was pretty ordinary. I wake up every day, go to work to earn just enough money to support myself and my family. I did not even think about big plans and goals! In QNET, I started to set goals and plan. I started to scrutinize everything to make sure that everything I do will contribute to achieving my goal. My dreams became goals, with deadlines. I saw how my team believes in me and it encouraged me to do more and be more so I can motivate them not by words but by action and results. Knowing that they are looking at me as a role model made me set another goal—that is to become a better version of myself so I can continuously inspire them. I now wake up with a much bigger purpose.
What inspired you to reach the Platinum Star and how did you do that?
I realised that you cannot give what you do not have. You should be successful to inspire others to be successful. You should be inspired so you can inspire others. You should believe in yourself to make others believe in themselves. Instead of using other people as examples or testimonies to what you are advocating, you should make yourself that example. I cannot tell anyone to achieve Platinum Star and not be Platinum Star myself, don’t I? This was the mentality I had, and this helped me overcome the challenges that I have encountered in my Platinum Star journey.
Tell us about building a sales team and managing it.
Spend a lot of time with your sales team. Sometimes, it can mean that you will have lesser time with your family and yourself, but it is important to keep in mind that you are building your business’ foundation and you will reap the benefits with your family in the future. It is important to plan and teach others to be successful in the business, long-term. My wife and my 2 little bosses (sons) at home have always supported me and this gives me enough strength and confidence to keep going. They make me feel that I can do anything!
Set the right goals and objectives for your leaders, be a team player and constantly enhance or develop your sales teams. Motivating your leaders requires you to push your leaders to their limits and lead them out of their comfort zones. Celebrate milestones together, big or small, because you all deserve it.
Also, keep in mind that anything that is based on deception is always bound to fail. It is very simple, be honest with yourself and others, always tell the truth and do not cheat anyone. When problems arise, do not blame it on other people because you can control problems even before they happen! Confucius once said, do not complain about the snow on your neighbour’s roof unless your own roof is cleared.”
Did you ever face a situation when you wanted to give up?
Yes, but every time it happened, I think of why I have started and what I have already done. Then I’d realise that only a fool will give up. Deep-breathing, re-strategising and remembering my purpose helped me achieve my goals!
What Are Your Success tips for young entrepreneurs?
Understand what you truly want in life before getting into the business. From there, set the right goals and put deadlines into it! You will not realise what you are capable of until you start doing things and achieve goals. Your destiny is in your hands and if you do not do something about it, someone else will drive you to your future and you will not be able to control the results.
It is important to know and understand what you are getting into before you jump in. Always remember that success in the business does not depend solely on the business model or your sales team; your success depends on you. The road to success is not easy and your determination to achieve must be bigger than the challenges you will encounter.
