How To Celebrate Earth Day 2020 From Home

As we celebrate Earth Day 2020 under these unusual circumstances, one strong thought comes to our collective minds – not to take the Earth for granted anymore. If the consequences of the Covid-19 Pandemic are anything to go by, especially with nature coming back in spectacular ways across the planet, the health of people and nature has never been more under the spotlight.

Earth Day 2020 And Corporate Responsibility

Dato Sri Vijay Eswaran has recently been interviewed by the Forbes for the sustainable actions every branch of the QI Group of Companies has undertaken to be more eco-friendly. Whether it is endeavouring to be plastic-free over the last few years or the cross-company vegetarian policy implemented in all offices around the world, QNET works hard to keep its business in line with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

“It’s easy to forget that we are guests on this planet, not landlords. The planet doesn’t need our help to revive it, it just needs us to stop destroying it. If we want our children and future generations to be able to walk in nature, swim in the oceans, and breathe clean air we must take drastic action right now. It is not that difficult. Stop using single-use plastic, switch to a plant-based diet and educate children from an early age about recycling, repurposing and the impact of the choices they make in their daily lives on the planet.”

Celebrating 50 Years Of Earth Day

This Earth Day 2020 marks 50 years, a massive milestone worth celebrating. The theme is climate action, a pressing topic to raise awareness for on its 50th anniversary. Despite the worldwide lockdown and social distancing measures, the digital celebration is still on the cards. There are three ways you can join in and show your solidarity from wherever you are in the world.

1. Watch Earth Day Live

Find a digital Earth Day 2020 event near you and join in. Earth Day Live will be the biggest digital civic movement in the history of the world, and apart from doing your bit for our planet Earth, you will also be a part of history. Keep a lookout for the concert for a healthy planet with some of the most famous international musicians and scientists.

2. Celebrate With 24 Hours Of Action

Whether you’re making art for Earth Day 2020 or plogging (picking up litter on your jog), or even getting your faith leader to sign the pledge for action against climate change, commit to make the Earth a safer, healthier, and more sustainable place with 24 hours of action.

3. Register Your Own Event

Create your own digital event with your friends and family on the Earth Day website. It only takes five minutes, and when you’re done, you will be presented with ideas of talking points or even fun activities you could do in honour of Mother Earth.

This Earth Day 2020, let’s take a moment to reflect on the two crises on our hands – the Covid-19 pandemic and the climate disaster that has been brewing for years. Let’s take it upon ourselves to try and solve both challenges by pledging to stay at home, no matter how tempting it is to go out to socialise, and let’s pledge to do our best to fight for the world against climate inaction. Do your bit today.
