YEE-HAAAAA! F1 returns to the USA this weekend for the first time since 2007, at a brand spanking new racetrack – ‘The Circuit of the Americas (COTA)’ – located near Austin, Texas. As the first US purpose-built F1 circuit designed for all categories of racing, the track was officially opened on 21 October, this year to the excitement of avid racing fans. Over 5,000 regional runners were given the fantastic opportunity of competing at the track, in a ‘Formula Run’ event hosted by the Circuit of Americas™ on the 3 November, earlier this month. Runners raced across the Starting Grid uphill into the circuit’s signature Turn 1, leading onto 19 more thrilling bends.

Delivering 56 laps of pure racing bliss, F1 drivers will be treated to the site’s natural topography including dramatic elevation points of up to 40 metres high. Combining features of world-loved circuits, The COTA dishes up a steep, uphill hairpin at Turn 1, followed by Turns 3 to 6 reminiscent of the Japanese Suzuka circuit, followed by a similar challenging multi-apex as in the Istanbul Park circuit in Turkey at Turns 16 to 18.. With a seating capacity of over 120,000 people, this track certainly marks a milestone in America’s racing sport, and places it firmly on the international F1 map.

We hope you are ready to support the Marussia F1 Team drivers, as the team is excited for their first ever US race! Looking forward to the challenge of this landmark Grand Prix, the team also hope to have some time to soak in the sights and sounds of good old Texas.

Officially opened by the COTA Ambassador and 1978 F1 World Champion, Mario Andretti, enjoy this video of the inaugural racing lap of the Circuit of Americas track, performed by Andretti, to mark the start of this F1 dream in the USA.
