Last Stop Before the Eventful AFC Champions League 2010 Season’s Final
The AFC Champions League Semi Finals Leg 2 comes your way TODAY (Wednesday, 20 October)!
Following a goal-filled game in Riyadh’s King Fahd International Stadium during the Semi Finals Leg 1, which saw the host Al Shabab defeating South Korea’s Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma 4-3, the stage is now set for Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma to make the most of their last chance to outperform their Saudi guests at home and earn their way into the Finals. The game will kick-off at 7:30pm local time today (20 October), taking place at the Tancheon Sports Complex in Seongnam. The South Korean Club almost saw its chance disappear as it was on the brink of being disqualified over complaints on its arena’s condition: the ACL regulations indeed state that the field of play needs to meet a certain standard, which if not met could lead the Match Commissioner to declare the host club forfeit with the opposing team earning a 3-0 victory. After local action was taken to relay the pitch that resulted in a green light from an AFC inspection, the win will be based on the best team’s performance!
The second match for Leg 2 of the Semi Finals will be played at King Fahd International Stadium, and some of our Saudi Arabia-based IRs would be lucky enough to have yet another chance to witness exhilarating football action between the 2nd Saudi Club competing in this phase – Al Hilal – and the Iranian Champion Zob Ahan. The Riyadh giants lost to Zob Ahan 1-0 in the 1st leg, and will count on the strong and enthusiastic support from their fans to give them the strength to achieve a qualifying win at home. The kick-off is scheduled at 8:00pm (local time) the same day.
To all local and globetrotting IRs in Seongnam and Riyadh, we do hope to see you enjoy the best of Asian football in these key knockout stage encounters, brought to you by QNet, Official Direct Selling Supporter of the AFC Champions League!
