The Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH) has recognised QNET’s commitment to health and wellness with the distinguished “Hong Kong Smokefree Leading Company Award”.

The award is given to businesses that advocate a smoke-free culture, and play an active role in protecting public health and encouraging a smokefree Hong Kong.

QNet Limited will be presented with a “Certificate of Merit” at a formal awards presentation ceremony on 14 March 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. An Awards Booklet will also be published, listing names of all the recipients.

The campaign, supported by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, aims to promote a smokefree culture across the region. It praises companies that support the policy and fulfil their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Ms Malou Caluza, QNET Chief of Network Services and main signatory of the award said “The fact that smoking is harmful to health is well-known. But it also contributes to environmental pollution which is why we are advocating and enforcing a smokefree lifestyle among our employees as a key CSR thrust. This is another example of how QNET is a company that cares holistically.”

To win this respected award, companies were assessed by a judging panel made up of prominent government officials and representatives from the business community such as the Director of Health, the Chairman of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the President of Asia Financial Holdings Ltd. The criteria were stringent and companies were judged on how well they enforced and advocated a smokefree workplace and lifestyle among their own employees. Final awardees were selected after a few rounds of initial assessments.
