QNET Malaysia Volunteers At Kechara Soup Kitchen To Feed Homeless
QNET Malaysia staff and volunteers helped bring a smile on the faces of around 700 homeless and urban poor individuals in Kuala Lumpur by providing warm meals through the Kechara Soup Kitchen, a community action group which distributes food to the homeless and urban poor in Malaysia.
The group of 70 QNET Malaysia volunteers and staff were organised into five teams who went on to help the Kechara Soup Kitchen staff in various tasks in preparation of hot meals for the needy. Some of the tasks included conducting a food bank registration activity at an urban poor residential area, preparing food at Kechara’s premises, and distributing the food at Anjung Singgah, Medan Tuanku, and at various street locations in Sentul, Brickfields, and Pudu.
Using the opportunity provided by QNET to follow the principles of RYTHM or to Raise Yourself To Help Mankind, several volunteers commented that this experience was very fulfilling and planned to return to the Soup Kitchen as volunteers in the future. It was an eye-opening experience that helped open the eyes of the volunteers to the plight of the urban poor, and to the power of volunteering one’s time and talent to help those in need.
