The world of sports focussed its spotlights on Muttiah Muralidaran as he became QNet’s newest Product Ambassador!
The press launch held on Thursday, 30 September 2010 in Singapore was a spectacular success. The event started with a press conference to announce the official appointment of Murali as QNet’s newest Product Ambassador.
The event was also endorsed by the Singapore Cricket Association (SCA). The president of the SCA, Mr Imran Hamid Khwaja, who was part of the press conference panel was presented with a cheque of SGD 10,000 from QNet, to be used towards the development of cricket in Singapore.
Together with the SCA, QNet organised a cricket coaching clinic for children aged 13-18. The children spent an hour with the master bowler learning tricks and tips of spin bowling. Murali then signed the QNet-Muralidaran flyers for the children and also gave away signed QNet branded cricket balls to them. The children were thrilled to receive such a precious souvenir from the cricketing legend.
This event attracted a lot of media attention. Media personnel from Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka attended the press conference. In addition, international media such as ESPN, CNA, and AFP were present, as well as several TV and radio stations from Mediacorp in both English and Tamil. Sports, business and feature journalists from various magazines and newspapers also covered the event. The press conference was even broadcast on BBC sports segment!
