Keeping with its principle of giving back to the community, QNET participated in a biannual event last week to promote awareness on how assistive technology empowers people with special needs. QNET’s UAE team was represented by QNET PR and Social Media Executive Reda Bensaoud, who took part in the Al Noor Assistive TechX Expo. The event was held with the aim of transforming Dubai into a role model for providing people with disabilities with the necessary services to strengthen their position in society.
The Al Noor Assistive TechX Expo was organized by Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs. The centre is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In addition, this year’s event upheld the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The Assistive TechX 2017 featured a variety of activities and workshops. The ATechX Hackathon was designed to provide real time solutions to those with special needs. Also, there were several workshops and exhibitions featuring experts and manufacturers in the field of Assistive Technology who shared their knowledge with people with special needs and parents of children with disabilities on how advanced technology can be used to improve the livelihoods of disabled adults and children.
The expo was supported by the ‘My Community…A City for Everyone’ initiative as part of the Dubai Disability Strategy 2020 which seeks to make Dubai an inclusive and friendly city for those with disabilities.
ATechX is a biannual event held in the Middle East to build awareness on how assistive technology empowers the special needs community. Their core mission is to provide professional training opportunities and care to all individuals from all backgrounds to have them fulfil their potential and become successful members of society.
