RYTHM Foundation has joined hands with the Child’s Dream Foundation (CDF) since 2016, focusing on social and community development projects. These projects consist of building and expanding schools in remote and rural areas of the Mekong Sub Region. There, poverty and lack of infrastructure and support account for low student enrolment in secondary schools. RYTHM and CDF’s core objective is to widen access to quality education for underprivileged children living in these communities. This aid ensures that children will be given a strong foundation to support themselves and build their lives in the future.
Our current project seeks to increase the student capacity of Phonsai Secondary School in Laos by constructing one additional building in the campus. The school was established in 1987 and currently enrols more than 1,500 students, with 70% coming from remote villages.
Primary education in Laos is universal for every child up until Grade 5. However, the lack of educational infrastructure in small towns and rural areas greatly hinders students from advancing to secondary school. The Foundation hopes that the secondary school expansion in Phonsai district will increase the student attendance and encourage them to progress with their studies.
A generous contribution made by RYTHM Foundation is being used to fund the construction project, which kicked off last April. Upon completion, the school will boast six additional classrooms and four toilets. These improved facilities would resolve longstanding issues of overcrowding and poor sanitation currently faced by Phonsai Secondary School and make the environment favourable for learning.
Going forward, RYTHM Foundation plans to carry on its education initiatives to empower and uplift underprivileged communities towards a sustainable future. RYTHM, short for Raise Yourself to Help Mankind, strives to positively impact the lives of the disadvantaged and the needy by providing them with the tools they need to achieve a prosperous and fulfilling life.
